EM&I Drills for New Opportunities in Namibia

February 29th, 2024

EM&I and Seadrill, a long-standing partner which operates a fleet of drillships globally, presented at the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) Drilling Africa conference in Windhoek, Namibia on reducing out of service time for those drillships.  This reduction makes the drilling much more efficient, and Seadrill utilises EM&I’s capabilities to achieve it.

Why Namibia? Namibian oil and gas reserves are substantial which means that EM&I’s early positioning in the country will pay dividends, firstly in support of drilling followed by opportunities for the many FPSOs to follow.

The conference was also an opportunity to demonstrate EM&I’s partnerships in Africa, and support for localisation of workforce skills.

The photograph shows the attached poster, and [from left], Danny Constantinis, Executive Chairman and CEO, EM&I Group, Josselin Cassanet, BD Manager for Sonadrill, Seadrill’s JV in Angola with Sonangol; Neil Woodcock, EM&I’s DRD for Africa; Geronimo Neto, Assistant Rig Manager for Sonangol Libongos, a drillship managed by Sonadrill, and Dr Papa Benin, Managing Director of Stark Energy, EM&I’s local partner in Ghana.

Danny Constantinis commented: “The photograph shows what a great success this conference was for EM&I; earlier this month, we successfully delivered the first UWILD on the Sonangol Libongos operating offshore Angola; from that individual opportunity, up to the joint presentation with Seadrill, the relationship was clearly demonstrated.”
