EM&I initiated a quick response to the media coverage of the developing humanitarian disaster in Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia as the effects of one of the worst droughts on record in the Horn of Africa worsen.

Alexander Constantinis, Chief Operating Officer for EM&I, initiated a fundraising drive which generated in the region of GBP 3K in the first two weeks of going 'live'.

In support of this, the various Boards of Directors of the EM&I Alliance agreed to donate GBP 2.5K and have pledged to match the donations made by members of the team, pound for pound, up to a total of GBP 5K.This means that the organisation is targeting a total of GBP 7.5K and with the generosity of the worldwide team we could generate even more!

Alexander recently had this to say on how the fundraising was going; "I am pleased by the positive response and ideas coming from the team around the world.So far, this feedback has resulted in our creating a dedicated webpage to focus our fundraising efforts as well as adding several non-UK charities to our donations list - including two in Australia and Canada.I hope we can maintain our efforts in the coming weeks as the plight of those affected becomes more acute."
