Successful Diverless Hull Repair on FPSO Offshore Malaysia

February 9th, 2024

In a remarkable feat, EM&I Group has successfully executed a diverless complex steel replacement hull repair beneath the waterline of an operational FPSO (Floating Production, Storage and Offloading) facility offshore Malaysia. This achievement marks a significant advancement in underwater maintenance technology.

Employing its pioneering CLAM™ an Innovative Cofferdam Technology for Complex Hull Repair alongside state-of-the-art integrity class ROVs, EM&I Group completed multiple repairs with precision and efficiency. Notably, the repairs necessitated the installation of cofferdams measuring up to 3×5 metres.

The project was executed flawlessly, adhering to schedule and budgetary constraints without disrupting ongoing operations. Remarkably, the entire endeavor was accomplished without the need for drydocking, further enhancing the FPSO’s life expectancy and perhaps most significantly, it was executed without the utilization of divers, all while maintaining the highest safety standards throughout the process.

Danny Constantinis, EM&I Group Executive Chairman and CEO said: ” This achievement highlights our dedication to innovation and safety in offshore asset integrity management, listening to clients, solving their challenges, often where others have failed. We are exceedingly pleased with the substantial progress we have achieved in the development of our technology, presenting valuable contributions to the industry in which we operate, while also looking ahead to the future”.
