Statistical Method Improves Integrity

ANALYSE™, a new statistical method developed by EM&I and recently trialled on a full campaign on an FPSO, has been shown to cut scope, POB and costs while improving integrity assurance.

The company used its 35 years of experience on more than 175 assets to deploy the ANALYSE™ system which confirmed improved inspection information while reducing costs by 46% and POB by 45%.

ANALYSE works by recognising that even sophisticated RBI systems achieve a ‘hit rate’ of between 5% and 10%.

ANALYSE uses historic data if available to set a much reduced scope and then constantly assesses and adjusts the scope during the site inspection phase and ‘tells’ the inspector when he has sufficient data to confirm integrity status to a known level of assurance, in line with international standards.

This statistical method, verified by professors at one of the leading London universities, helps operators identify danger points and trends in good time for remedial action to be taken and much more efficiently than conventional methods.

Danny Constantinis, Executive Chairman of the EM&I Group, commented: “ANALYSE meets EM&I’s objectives of enhancing safety while achieving substantial cost savings. Its use of data aligns with our strategy to use robotics and digitisation to bring real benefits to our industry.”
