International Demonstration at EM&I’s Technology Centre

February 27th, 2019

Senior representatives of a major Brazilian oil company and of a leading FPSO lease operator visited EM&I’s Technology Centre for demonstrations of state-of-the-art methods for inspection and maintenance of floating offshore installations, many of which came from the HITS JIP whose members include oil majors, class societies, lease operators, service providers and academic bodies.

Amongst the commercially available innovations shown was ODIN®, a totally diverless UWILD and valve repair system, NoMan® unmanned tank inspections, WallGuard™ robotic method for inspecting and maintaining pressure vessels to reduce outage time.

Hands-on demonstrations also took place of ExPert™ a non-intrusive, Ex equipment inspection system that avoids system shutdown, ANALYSE™ a data analysis system that reduces UTM scopes by over 50% and the diverless HullGuard® ICCP system all of which are due for roll out and implementation in the next few months.

EM&I’s senior managers and technical specialists were on hand to discuss the innovations and client driven ongoing developments.

Danny Constantinis (Executive Chairman) of the EM&I Group – the international asset integrity specialists commented: “Our strategy is to develop systems that deliver increased safety along with permanent 50% cost reductions.

All these technologies are ‘industry driven’ as the oil majors, operators and class societies are all involved in the JIP. I’m delighted to see how many of the leading FPSO operators and drilling companies are embracing the new technologies to help improve the efficiency and safety of their offshore operations”.
