The transition to cleaner energy will inevitably require new technology for storing energy, and different types of storage will be required in the future. Storage facilities, such as tanks, will need to remain ‘fit for purpose’ throughout their operational life.

Keeping tanks safely in service can be made more efficient and lower risk for workers by using robotic methods of inspection.

EM&I has developed a number of robotic and digital technologies that have been successful in improving safety and efficiency whilst reducing manpower and costs.

In this editorial in Tanks & Terminals Magazine, Danny Constantinis—EM&I Group Executive Chairman and CEO—explains why robotic and digital technologies will play an important role in supporting storage facilities for cryogenic products.
